The Annual Banquet, last September 14, was formally opened by the President and CEO of Union Galvasteel Corporation, Mr. Arthur M. Florendo. He welcomed the scholars during his opening remarks,

“For Batch XI – just like the previous batches your admission into the program is a life changing event in your lives, as this is the start of your journey for making your lives better. We hope to inspire you to be successful not just with your studies but also in life so that others help you, you may also help others.”

During the Banquet, the PHINMA Foundation, Inc. also awarded this year’s Life Can Be Better Awardee, Mr. Curt Marvin B. Cruz, a graduate of the University of the Philippines. This award is given to a recent graduate of the PNS Program who is recognized as an exemplary student, an excellent leader, and has been true to the PNS Pledge of Commitment.

“With the value of empathy, we can do so much to concretize our plans as changemakers in our communities. It does not mean that you have your own problems, you cannot do anything to help your immediate community. I am a living testimony that in spite of life’s challenges, we could utilize our skills and talents to make our small steps towards nation building.

In three to four years, I look forward to hear another story from this batch, which life was made better by PHINMA. Let’s work hand in hand to better the nation. Always remember, once you become a PHINMA Scholar, you are and will always bring the values of a PHINMA scholar.”
